バックハウスのベートーヴェンは、録音から50年を経てもなお、スタンダードな演奏として世界中で聴かれています。
1909年にはドイツ･グラモフォンに世界初となるピアノ協奏曲録音を行うなど、ピアノ演奏史・録音史に欠かせないアーティストの一人と言えるバックハウス。
